Ready, set, play! Grand opening of the new playground at Dickman Park took place Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, with ribbon cutting and other festivities to mark the special occasion. Last renovated in 1991, the equipment had reached the end of its anticipated life span and no longer met current standards for playground safety and accessibility. Early spring rains delayed construction, but recent good weather has allowed the construction team to make up for lost time….

Unfortunately, emerald ash borer’s arrived. The Park Board will be cutting down all ash trees on boulevards over the next eight years. But as a neighborhood organization, we are proud to be extending the life of ash trees and our tree canopy. We have decided to use some of our own neighborhood funds to protect and extend the life of about 20% of these trees. The trees will be protected for at least two years….
The St. Anthony West Neighborhood Organization held a committee meeting on Jan. 11 to begin to develop a plan to address the Emerald Ash Borer problem that is in our neighborhood. Two dozen ash trees were cut down last summer, and more are dying and will be cut down soon. We have started a fluid, multifaceted plan that has the goal of making the loss of trees in our neighborhood less extreme and giving more…
